Installing node.js on Windows and Ubuntu

To get the latest Apache conrdova, one need to make sure that node.js (and npm) exists.

Installing node on Windows

Download the latest node.js from http://nodejs.org/

Follow the below steps after opening the downloaded setup file:

Let the installer compute required space.

node installer compute required space

So, if we have required space:

Welcome screen node installation

node license

Select destination to install node

Select destination to install node

Select which node components to install - this may be useful for server configuration

Select which node components to install

Ready to install node

Installing node on Ubuntu

There are various ways to install node on Ubuntu, one of them is compiling and installing

Use the below commands one-line-after-the-other


$ sudo apt-get install build-essential
$ wget http://nodejs.org/dist/v0.8.16/node-v0.8.16.tar.gz
$ tar -xzf node-v0.8.16.tar.gz
$ cd node-v0.8.16/
$ ./configure
$ make
$ sudo make install

To verify the installation:


$ node -v
v0.8.16
$ npm -v
1.1.69
